Fortnite Servers Down For Millions As Epic Games Investigates Outage...

Fortnite players across the U.S. are reporting widespread server outages Thursday morning, leaving millions unable to access the popular battle royale game. Epic Games confirmed it is investigating the issue after a surge of reports on Downdetector and social media.

The outage began around 8:30 AM ET, according to player reports. Many attempting to log in receive error messages or get stuck in endless loading screens. The timing coincides with the start of spring break for many U.S. school districts, amplifying frustration among young players.

Epic Games acknowledged the problem on Twitter at 9:12 AM ET, stating: "We're aware of an issue preventing players from logging into Fortnite and are working on a fix." The company has not provided an estimated resolution time.

Downdetector shows outage reports spiking to over 25,000 across North America. Major internet service providers appear unaffected, pointing to problems specifically with Fortnite's servers. The outage affects all platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, PC and mobile.

This marks the second major Fortnite disruption in three weeks. A similar outage on February 18 lasted nearly four hours before full service was restored. Some players report being unable to access purchased content even after regaining access.

Competitive players are particularly impacted as today is the final day of the current Fortnite Championship Series qualifiers. Epic Games has not yet announced whether tournament schedules will be adjusted due to the technical issues.

The outage comes just days after Fortnite launched its new "Giant Hand" gameplay mode, which had driven increased player traffic. Server capacity issues have been an ongoing challenge for Epic Games as Fortnite continues averaging over 200 million monthly active players worldwide.

As of 10:00 AM ET, some players report intermittent access returning, though matchmaking remains unstable. Epic Games says it will provide updates on its status page as the situation develops.
