Nine Inch Nails Announces First Tour In Five Years...

Industrial rock pioneers Nine Inch Nails shocked fans Tuesday by announcing their first tour since 2021. The 20-date North American arena run begins September 8 in Detroit and includes stops in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.

The announcement comes after months of speculation about the band's future. Frontman Trent Reznor had hinted at new music during a recent podcast appearance, but the tour news caught many by surprise. Presale tickets will be available April 18 through the band's official website.

Social media erupted following the announcement, with #NIN2026 trending nationwide. The band last toured behind their 2020 album "Ghosts V-VI," which was released as a surprise during the pandemic. This marks their first proper tour cycle since 2018's "Bad Witch" era.

Industry analysts note the timing coincides with renewed interest in 90s alternative acts. Recent successful tours by Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins have demonstrated strong demand for legacy acts. Nine Inch Nails' last tour grossed over $30 million across 36 shows.

The tour announcement follows Reznor's recent work scoring films like "The Killer" and "Challengers." Keyboardist Atticus Ross will join him on the road, along with longtime touring members Robin Finck and Alessandro Cortini. No opening acts have been announced yet.

Fans are particularly excited about potential setlist changes. The band's 2021 shows focused heavily on instrumental material, while earlier tours featured hits like "Closer" and "Hurt." Reznor has promised "some surprises" in recent interviews.

Ticket demand is expected to be intense, with the band playing smaller venues than their last tour. Nine Inch Nails remains one of the few 90s acts that continues to challenge audiences musically while maintaining commercial success. Their influence can be heard in recent work by artists like HEALTH and Boy Harsher.

The tour concludes November 12 at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena. Additional international dates are rumored for 2027, though nothing has been confirmed. This marks the band's first major activity since being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.
