Tame Impala Fans Frustrated As Ticketek Glitch Cancels US Tour Tickets...

Thousands of Tame Impala fans across the U.S. were left scrambling today after Ticketek's system erroneously canceled pre-sale tickets for the band’s upcoming North American tour. The technical issue, which began early this morning, affected transactions processed between February 23-25, with customers receiving abrupt cancellation notices despite successful initial purchases.

Ticketek confirmed the glitch in a statement, acknowledging that “a system error incorrectly voided some valid ticket orders.” The company is working to reinstate affected reservations, but frustrated fans took to social media to vent about lost premium seats and potential resale markups. Many reported being unable to re-secure tickets at original prices due to rapid sellouts.

The problem emerged just as demand peaked for Tame Impala’s first major U.S. tour since 2021. The Australian psychedelic pop act, led by Kevin Parker, will play 28 arena shows starting May 12 in Portland. Today’s incident follows similar ticketing controversies involving Live Nation and SeatGeek during recent major tours.

Ticketek advises impacted customers to check their email for restoration notices before contacting support. The company has not specified how many orders were affected, but fan forums suggest at least several thousand tickets across multiple venues were temporarily invalidated. Some venues, including Chicago’s United Center, have extended purchase windows for affected buyers.

Industry analysts note this highlights ongoing fragility in digital ticketing systems during high-demand sales. “When you combine limited inventory with technical failures, you create secondary market chaos,” said Live Events Insider editor Mara Goldstein. The debacle comes amid heightened scrutiny of ticketing practices following last year’s Senate hearings on Ticketmaster’s dominance.

As of 3 p.m. ET, Ticketek’s status page shows the issue as “resolved,” though some fans still report missing seat confirmations. The company promises refunds for any orders that cannot be reinstated, but for dedicated fans, the emotional toll of potentially missing the tour remains. “I had perfect floor seats,” tweeted @ImpalaSuperfan. “Now I’m stuck battling scalpers because of their mistake.”
