Amber Alert Issued For Missing Child In Thomasville, GA...

An Amber Alert was activated early Sunday morning for a missing child in Thomasville, Georgia, sparking a statewide search. Authorities say 6-year-old Jamal Carter was last seen near his home on East Jackson Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued the alert just after midnight, describing Jamal as a Black male, 3'6" tall, wearing blue pajamas with cartoon characters. Police believe he may have been taken by his non-custodial father, 32-year-old Marcus Carter, who was last seen driving a silver 2015 Honda Accord with Georgia license plate BHC2318.

Thomasville Police Chief John Richards told reporters at a 6 a.m. press conference that the department is "using every resource available" to locate the child. "We're working with GBI, FBI, and surrounding law enforcement agencies," Richards said. "This child's safety is our top priority."

The alert has triggered widespread community response across southern Georgia and northern Florida. Social media platforms are flooded with shares of Jamal's photo and vehicle description. Local businesses have begun posting security camera footage to assist investigators.

This case marks Georgia's third Amber Alert of 2026. The system, named after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman who was abducted and murdered in Texas in 1996, has helped recover over 1,100 children nationwide since its creation.

Authorities urge anyone with information to call 911 or the Thomasville Police tip line at 229-227-3245. Roadside digital signs across Georgia are displaying the alert details, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has activated its emergency response network.

The case is trending nationally as concerned citizens share the alert across social platforms. Georgia State Patrol has established checkpoints along major highways, particularly near the Florida state line. Officials warn the public not to approach the suspect vehicle but to immediately report any sightings to law enforcement.
